MySpace is probably one of the best places to start for beginner internet marketers. The experience will help you learn a lot about what works and what does not work all without barely any risk. Not to mention that besides a couple tools, MySpace marketing is free.

That is not to say that MySpace is only for beginners because MySpace is a great place for any internet marketer to learn more about internet marketing and much more important, to make a bunch of money.
160,000,000.
When you see that number what do you think?
If big money were not the first two things to come to your head then I am going to help convert you into a MySpace marketer. Because as of March, 2007 that is exactly the number of people who have signed up with MySpace.
Stop thinking MySpace is a place to make friends, and start thinking MySpace is a place to make money, because that is the type of person that will make a lot of money very quickly with the following information.
When someone launches a product, let’s say on AdWords, it really makes me laugh sometimes when they have a screenshot of proof of like $800 a day.
Why?
Because they are showing the money coming in, but they are not showing the money going out to bring that money in. If they are lucky, they are profiting half of the profits they are showing, and even that would surprise me.
When you see proof of profits from someone marketing on MySpace, lets say me, it is purely profit.
It is so easy to make money on MySpace with the right tools and selling the right products that it is almost unbelievable.
The only pain about MySpace is that they are constantly changing and you just have to stay on top of the changes. You must know the right people and the right place(s) to get the latest changes occurring on MySpace. A good place is the RJ forum.
The Formula To MySpace Marketing Success
There is one very simply formula that you will be using for successful MySpace marketing.
1. Make accounts
2. Add friends
3. Comment your friends
That is the basic 3 step formula to make money on MySpace that works for any and every kind of MySpace marketing efforts.
Current Limitations And Profile Advice
Back in the beginning account deletions and freezes didn’t even really exist. It was the shiznit.
The friend request limit was 500 a day, wow that was the best.
Now the limit for friend requests is 50, so for every one account back then you need 10 now.
So when you are requesting friends I recommend adding like 49 friends a day for each account.
Everyone uses a playboy model type picture for their profile picture…why?
Why do you current MySpace marketers do this?
For one thing this is a red flag for MySpace and they will delete your account and second it is so overplayed that almost everyone on MySpace would be able to identify it as a fake account.
Don’t use playboy models and girls in skimpy clothing for your profile pictures. Pick an average looking girl OR guy and go from there.
About 90% of MySpace marketers use women pictures to market to men. Take advantage of the fact that most people only market to men with women profiles. Go the other direction.
Be smart about who you market to and with which profiles you use to market with. When marketing to lesbians what type of profile do you think they are going to be most interested in accepting friend requests that come their way? You guess it, lesbians.
Let MySpace Do The Targeting For You
Targeted marketing does not get any easier then MySpace. They have search options for almost anything and millions of groups on almost anything you can think of.
Lets go through just some of the search options:
Age, sex, single, relationship, married, divorced, swinger, here for dating, here for relationships, here for friends, here for networking, ethnicity [with 9 options], body type [6 options], height, smoker, drinker, occupation, orientation, education, religion, income, and children.
Not to mention the millions of groups.
And 160,000,000 people.
Are you kidding me?
What market can’t you tap into?
Staying Organized
It’s very important to keep your profiles organized into folders. Let me give an example.
Say you have 1,000 MySpace accounts.
So far you are focusing on 4 markets. Lets say
A) Make money products
B) Dating help
C) Dog Lovers
D) Basketball players
Lets say you have 250 accounts for each, and then for each of them you have half guy accounts and half girl accounts. So 125 guy accounts for each niche and 125 girl accounts for each niche.
You would have 4 folders, one for each niche.
In each of those folders I recommend even having two folders, one for men and one for women.
You can break it down even further (gay, straight, etc.) but I want to keep it simple for our example.
The reason we do this is obvious. You don’t want to market your “Learn how to jump 6 inches higher” product to your dog lovers group.
MySpace Marketing: Advanced Methods
Tell me who doesn’t like a big targeted list?
MySpace is a great place to build a huge targeted list. Say you have 500 accounts on make money products and 300 friends on each account. That is 15,000 potential customers.
When you send your comments to these people, there are three ways you can approach the person.
1) Send them directly to the product page.
2) Send them to a squeeze page, collect their e-mail, and then direct them to the product page.
3) Send them to just the squeeze page, collect e-mail, and work on the sale(s) through later e-mails.
How you do this is totally up to you. But I want to remind everyone that you can build MASSIVE lists through MySpace.
Another thing you can use MySpace for is building some backlinks.
Just send out comments with your site\anchor text and you got yourself some quality one-way backlinks.
MySpace Restrictions
Like I said before it is very important to stay on top of MySpace changes. Currently MySpace blocks the word “online” from appearing in comments.
They also block direct links from clickbank.
Brutal huh?
You know I was browsing through a forum the other day and I saw a bunch of people talking about MySpace marketing and how it does not work anymore.
They had collectively sent out 100,000 comments for clickbank products and not one of them got a sale.
One of them said, “It’s because MySpace traffic is so untargeted, it’s not even worth it wasting you’re time there”.
HAHA. That made me laugh.
What’s messed up is I did not even post telling them that they made no sales because MySpace now blocks direct clickbank links.
Know why I didn‘t tell them? Because most of them were in the same niche as I was.
Imagine sending out like 25,000 comments then realizing you just wasted all of them. You got to stay on top of those things.
If you take a week or two building friends, send out 25,000 and make no money when you should have made a grande or two, it is going to piss you off and may even make you quit something that can make you $10,000+ a month.
So stay on top of the game, and you and your bank account will get together just fine.
“As Blackhat As It Gets”
Now there is a very simple yet dangerous way to make a very large amount of easy money.
You find a script that steals MySpace accounts and passwords.
Imagine getting 500 accounts with a bunch of friends pre-added a night doing absolutely nothing but letting a script run. And then getting on these accounts and commenting THEIR friends. If you got a comment from one of your friends telling you about this awesome product they just got that they already made $400 with would you buy it? Maybe, maybe not.
Point is, not only are you magically getting thousands of people to market to, but they are the friends of the person’s account you are using. So they have trust already.
Let’s say each account has 200 people.
500 x 200 = 10,000 people\comments to send.
Trust me when I tell you that if you have the balls to do this you will make a hell of a lot of money.
I have never done it myself, but I am certain you will make a lot of money if you do.
I highly recommend not doing this, but you do what you want.
Spamming?
This is a touchy and controversial subject for MySpace marketing.
You go to somewhere like the Warrior Forum and mention MySpace marketing, and see what happens. Like 50% of the people in there are like the internet police. They will jump all over you and put you below them because you are a “spammer”. Just in case there are children around your computer I won’t touch on this here.
OK, lets go over our formula to MySpace marketing success that you are going to be using.
First you make accounts. Are we spamming anyone yet? No.
OK, next we add friends. The person has to manually accept our friend request in order for them to be our friend. THEY have to ACCEPT your friend request before you can comment them.
Now we comment our FRIENDS that ACCEPTED our REQUEST. Remember that they accepted our friend request, thus enabling us to contact them via comment.
Not to even mention that they also have the ability to approve\disapprove comments before they even get posted on their comment section.
So I think you can understand where I am going with this.
Spam?
If you don’t want us to send you promotional stuff don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know. It’s as simple as that.
The Wrap-Up
As you can see MySpace is a very unique marketing opportunity. There is the potential to make a ton of money, and besides your basic tools you don’t have to invest a bunch of money to be successful.
There is not a single market that cannot be touched on in MySpace. My advice is that you get in and start getting yours now.
Lucky for you all I have moved on from MySpace because I make much more money elsewhere. Don’t worry I left plenty for you.
But for someone who took on MySpace as their full-time job, it is very possible to make $20,000 a month there.
I have a friend who did $9,000 in two days, so trust me when I say that big numbers are possible for MySpace marketing.
Inside vs. Outside
Hello There! Greg’s partner Ruck here. Greg has gone to great lengths to explain how to make money money INSIDE Myspace so now, I would like to give you some tips and techniques on how to make money OUTSIDE of MySpace using their free traffic.
While commenting has shown that it is a surefire winner of making profits inside of Myspace, let me enlighten you on how to do every bit as good with direct mailing of Myspace users. Pay close attention, because these tactics are bringing me over 10K every pay period. If that is not enough to perk your ears, then truly you must be lost
Commenting with Optin Forms:
This is a tactic you might consider really ballsy. It is up to your own discretion whether you would like to try it or not. An optin form consists of HTML and lucky for us, Myspace accepts HTML coded comments. There are tons of ways to go about this, but you should know that a tactic like this means you WILL need to build a relationship with your optins to get the full reward from it.
How do you get personal?
That is very easy. Basically writing up a series of emails to automatically mail your optins is the way to go. It does take a little bit of work to writing up your emails. Depending on the subject matter, product research and all that fun stuff, will determine exactly how long it takes you to get every thing in place.
The result?
As Greg as point out, there are over 160 Million people registered on MySpace, and that number continues to grow daily. Building a list from a 160 million plus traffic source could very well alone be the cause of you quitting your job and working full time from your computer.
Blogging
Blogging is actually my favorite weapon for pulling optins from MySpace. There are tons of ways to go about this, but I am going to show you how to build 3-4 lists just from one profile.
All this really takes is you going to an article directory and pulling some content. For the lazy person this is the way to go. If you are like me though, you should realize that writing your own content is the WAY to go.
Not only will you pull hordes of friends who LOVE to read blogs, but you can also pull endless amounts of automated Search Engine traffic. The SE’s index the crap out of MySpace blogs daily. It is really quite hilarious how many PageRank 3 and 4 blogs I have on profiles that are geared basically for this tactic. There again, that is the value of writing your own content. If pulling from a directory suits you, then note that you are using content previously published and you stand to suffer from duplicate content penalties. Who cares right? There’s 160 million plus people on MySpace. Well, the way to go about it is entirely up to you. I like UNIQUE content.
The technique is in its simplicity. Basically you research a niche and find 3-4 products related to that niche. I say 3-4 because that gives you more options to mail and promote from. When you have done the initial research, it is now time to do the work.
Your profile should detail varied interests. When you go to start blogging, you should really blog on those interests. If your interests range from something like you work from home, are looking to date online, and you love gardening, then you should blog about it.
When blogging all you really need is a good article/post. At the end of it you provide the optin form telling people that can receive email updates on your tips, newsletter or more articles. Always promise to NOT spam, because that in all actuality is the key to receiving a lot of signups.
By now you should have your email series written and ready to go. When people opt-in you should have your emails being sent to them over a period of days on autopilot. This is as easy at it can get. Each email should have some really good content. I have found that a certain amount of tips in each email, with a short recommendation on an informational product have worked the best.
Now that we covered the blogging part, let’s talk about how to build multiple lists from a single profile. There again we have varied interests so each time a blog is posted we should have a different topic and another opt-in form geared for that list.
This is incredibly easy to do. I have given you a basic outline on how to market to millions of people who will opt-in because they are interested in your topic and what you have to say. What better place to do it, than a 160 million plus user network that will have tons of people interested in the very things you are.
Direct email marketing has been around for ages. It will continue to be around. This is an absolutely easy and surefire way of being able to direct mail potentially thousands to millions of people and all it costs is you time.
Hopefully we have given you enough ideas to get yourself up and running using FREE MySpace traffic and tactics. There are literally tons of ways to profit from the inside and outside on MySpace. We feel like we have given you a ton of information to get the ball rolling.
When you get to MySpace you’re only limited by your creativity and imagination. Whether you’re an experienced marketer or not, there is no doubt in my mind that ANYONE can make money from there.
A quick example is an RJ forum member who I took under my wing, to show everyone how easy it is. The very FIRST day of working on Myspace they made 2 sales. This is with ZERO previous experience. We hope you enjoy this information and start stacking the deck in your favor. Myspace has been a goldmine for over a year now for us. The screenshots and amount of information that we have posted is really quite compelling. I highly doubt either of us ever thought it would make us so much money when we first started out. My goodness, how we were wrong!
Although we have moved on from marketing there we still get the latest information on important changes for MySpace marketing which we share with our members.
And it’s that simple.
As long as you’re not in our niches, we wish you luck.
