Dealing With Change

Change And How To Deal With It

There are three things that are definite in this world:

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Change

Just about everyone can deal with death and paying taxes.

However, there are millions of people who cannot deal with change.

For example, if a woman at work is accustomed to performing tasks a certain way and new technology is implemented to help her become more productive she may fight the change.

You cannot assume she does not want to change! She is probably afraid of the unknown.

She is comfortable with the old way of performing tasks.

Many of us are stuck with industrial societal beliefs like, “I will have one job, retire and have a pension.”

It is reinforced with parents telling their children,

“Go to college, graduate, get a good job and retire.”

Do you want to be one of the people who get laid off?

Then don’t follow the traditional path. While an education is very important, it is only the foundation on which to build your success.

There are currently two types of people in the world:

• Those who create their opportunities, and

• The people who work for the individuals who create the opportunities

Which one are you?

You cannot get upset with the owner of a business if he lays you off! As an employee, it’s something that can happen.

How many times have you heard of the owner getting laid off?

The Board of Directors may fire the president of a company.

However, he/she will still get a nice compensation package. What would you get? You get a hard way to go, bill collectors harassing you and unemployment checks if you’re lucky!

Job security has not existed since the late 60′s. It is time to adapt to the current environment. If you do not, you will be left behind.
You will not be able to blame anyone but yourself.

You deserve more and you know it. What are you waiting for?

In order for you to protect your future income you have to dedicate yourself to learning something new and useful everyday!

Let me give you an example.
In March 2002, I was about to self-publish a guide with a vanity printer.

The cost was staggering, but I didn’t know any other way.

While searching the Internet, I came across a site for electronic guides.

At that moment, I saw that I could self-publish and distribute the guide electronically without the overhead of printing!

I was very excited! I spent the next week reading everything about electronic guides.

Eventually, I purchased an e-book compiler and I was running full speed with the new information!

By the end of July, I had created over six guides.

Many of these electronic guides you will never see, and a few you will.

Actually, this guide is one of the first ones I created.

As a result of the information obtained about electronic guides, I created a site to help women and men solve relationship problems and revised my computer site.

In less than two weeks, I changed my thought process on how to distribute my guides and came up with hundreds of topics. I was not afraid to change, but I was nervous.

I am so glad I made the changes. You will be glad when you embrace change and see the opportunities available to you!

If you truly fear change or find it difficult to change, there is an excellent and wonderful guide by Spencer Johnson titled,

“Who Moved My Cheese: An Amazing Way to Deal With Change In Your Work And In Your Life.”

In Who Move My Cheese Spencer says,

“When you move beyond your fear you feel free.”

It is time to get past your fears!
